TLC Ministry
Deacon Tanya
The TLC ministry sends out birthday and sympathy cards, and sends calendar announcements to people on the LIT email list serv. This ministry also maintains the new member’s list, visits members in the hospital and provides flowers for events.

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Team of Liberation in Truth is committed to providing friendly, generous receptions for church events. The team and church members accomplish the hosting of events through the preparation and donations of dishes.
Pastor’s Aide
Ms. Gloria, Deacon Troi
The objective of the Pastor’s Aide Committee is to assist the pastor within the ministry. To serve as caretakers to the Pastor, contributing financial, social and spiritual support. Meeting time and location: 3rd Sundays following the church service.
Olkiama (Elder’s Ministry)
Ms. Honei, Ms. Gloria
The name is taken from the Maasai language and means Council of Elders. The mission of Olkiama is to provide an atmosphere where elders Can find emotional support, encouragement and spiritual enrichment in The spirit of love. Any person that has reached the chronological age of 50 years or older is welcome. Group meets the 2nd Saturday of each month, time and location TBA.
Spiritual Development Ministry

The purpose of the Spiritual Development Ministries is to provide clergy and congregants support and supplemental education within the context of meeting each person where they are spiritually. This ministry will also provide the church body with the necessary resources and venues for further spiritual and theological exploration within church and the community at large. This ministry is responsible for the thought of the week, education and curriculum and deacon candidacy curriculum.
Cultivation Ministry

Cultivation Ministries is a resource ministry dedicated to the ongoing supplementation of the theological and practical, spiritual growth of the clergy and congregant. Its main purpose is to act as a conduit of spiritual resources for the entire church body, by providing a resource library, newsletter, internet research and weekly FYI’s.
Usher Team*

The primary goal of our Usher Team is to create an environment conducive to worship for all our LIT church family. In the last year the team has been present at various UFCM events, and has been committed to the recruitment of other team members. Meets 2nd Thursday of the month.
Security Team*
Netta Irby
The Security Team’s mission is to maintain and ensure the safety of the pastor, liturgical team, congregants and property by minimizing the risk and/or threat of violent or criminal incidents; both during Sunday service or at other venues. This is done through monitoring movement within as well as outside the church during service hours of operation. The Security Team also provides the necessary security coverage to the Bishop, Pastor, the Trustees and other members at all church functions.
Historical/Archiving Team

Written History (Deacon Jae)
The purpose of this team is to collect and preserve the history of Liberation In Truth and produce this information in written form.
Visions and Voices

This team will collect oral interviews and visual archives to create a multimedia account of LIT’s history.
Communications

The purpose of this team is to record all LIT events, maintain and manage video and audio equipment, and update and maintain the LITUFC website.
Voices of Liberation (adult choir) & Echoes of Liberation (children’s choir)*
Deacon Jae
Voices of Liberation’s task at LIT is to musically invoke a spiritual atmosphere that is conducive for worship and praise. Through songs of praise, VOL sends out messages of healing, love and liberation. As an integral part of the social justice ministry, VOL is also responsible for carrying the message of liberation beyond the church borders out into the community. Meeting time and location: Tuesdays, 7pm, 11 Halsey Street.
Akoben Drumming Circle
Deacon Candidate Randi Levant-Hardy
A great sense of community emerges as many hands work together to create a wonderful rhythmic sound. Drumming is said to be therapeutic as well, even possibly to the extent that it does truly heal us. Meeting time and location: 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 11am, 11 Halsey Street.
Prison Ministry

We are currently looking for people who are interested in designing and leading a ministry that reaches out to women and men in prison, works with prison advocacy groups, and provides resources to people reentering the community from prison. Young People’s Church (YPC)

This team is responsible for developing the emotional and spiritual development of youth in our church. The leaders will create six events per year for children and their families.
Youth Ministries: Leaders in Training (LIT)

The Youth Ministry was created to provide a loving network of support for the emotional and spiritual growth of our youth. The ministry serves youth from ages 5-28 and its future goals include: field trips for junior/teen groups, annual fundraisers, youth participation in worship service, membership class specifically designed for youth, a junior choir and a junior Usher Board.
M.O.V.E. – The Men’s Ministry*

Building support and camaraderie between men who attend LIT. Meeting time and location: 2nd and 4th Sunday following the service. All men are welcome to join.
Transcendent Faith*

Ministry for the transgender members of the LIT community.All transgender people are welcome to join.
Space Acquisition Committee

Trustees, clergy and lay persons working together on grant proposals and other fundraising strategies so LIT can own our own building for church services and HIV/AIDS prevention programming during the week.
Totalpraise! – The Dance Ministry*
Gabrie’l Atchison
The dance ministry welcomes women and men of all ages, sizes and dance ability to praise God through dance. We will dance to traditional gospel and contemporary music, and will occasionally collaborate with Akoben and Voices of Liberation. We are part of the service every third Sunday. Meeting time and location: 2nd and 4th Saturdays, 1-2pm, 11 Halsey Street.
Event Programming Team*

The programming team focuses on event fundraising, social networking and youth networking. Proposals for church-related events will be screened by this committee, before being sent for approval to the board of trustees. Meeting time and location: TBA
