The Social Justice Center (LITSJC) serves as a center for people to work for social justice and to be a catalyst for change. Through our programs and services we hope to foster safer living, stronger neighbors and healthier people in the greater Newark area.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

LOVING IN TRUTH

The Loving in Truth project was established in 1998 as an extension of the Liberation In Truth Unity Fellowship Church's (LITUFC's) AIDS ministry. Loving In Truth is an HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention program. Services provided include: community outreach, multi-session health education/risk reduction (HE/RR) workshops, prevention case management (PCM), support groups, confidential test decision counseling, social activities, referral services, community computer access, pastoral counseling, educational workshops, and distribution of free condoms (male and female).

DROP IN CENTER

The Open Door Drop-In Center provides people at high risk for HIV with immediate access to a variety of services, including showering, laundry facilities, food, and temporary resting or respite opportunities. We specifically reach out to those in the community where doors are traditionally closed to them. Other available services include HIV prevention and care services, including: HIV counseling and testing, risk reduction counseling, case management and prevention case management services, and prevention education.

HOUSING INFORMATION SERVICES

This program provides information and referrals for housing to people living with HIV/AIDS, and their families. A case manager can help the family go through the process of finding affordable housing with ease.

TRUE COLORS

True Colors is the Youth/Young Adult program. The program is open to all people, while it is a safe and supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning young people, and their friends. True Colors hosts a Drop In Center on the 2nd Friday of the month.
